It's what you've all been waiting for... we are pleased to announce that Epic Party will be returning this year on Wednesday the 29th June (Week 10 for those of you still on campus time).

You are cordially invited to enjoy an evening of food, drink (both provided) and fun (bring along yourself) with your fellow Canoe and Canoe Polo compatriots. Also there will be a bouncy castle. And possibly Croquet.

The details:

This will all be taking place at Leamington Rugby Club (on the road leaving Leamington to the north, look to your right). Tickets will be £26 for everything, which should be paid in cash to Greg before the event. Dress will be formal, black tie and dresses (or as close as you can get).

Sign up is now open, so get yourself on to the website because this party promises to be exactly what its name suggests: epic!

National League

We need to enter our teams for National League, so if you're up for it, please go and signup.

Same format as last year, so there will be 4 tournaments; 2 before Christmas and 2 after Christmas (2nd Term and Easter Hols at the latest). Costs vary slightly, but were less than £20 a tournament last year and the club is subsidising transport this year. (£70 Tournament Fee + Transport)

Next year's A Team, we would like to enter you as a team if enough of the team signup. We would also like to enter another team. There is a mix of abilities in the league and it varies from beginners to approximately A Team standard.

You should be a BCU member to play, but you can delay this until September. You will need to join Canoe Polo next year, but you're all going to do that anyway!

Any questions, ask! Got exams over the next couple of weeks, but I tend to procrastinate enough to answer emails!

It's Friday, Friday. Gotta get down on Friday! Ok, i'll stop being annoying. Nene trip. Tuesday week 9. (21st June). We will have 2 hours of exclusive use of the course, all paid for by our grant money. So all we will need to pay for is transport. Price TBC dependant on number of people signing up. Meeting on campus at about 11:30am and returning by 6pm. Please sign up so I don't have to go by myself. Signup closes Monday 5pm so I can arrange transport. You are welcome to signup after this, but no guarantee of car space for you. Although I guess we could always put you in the back of the van...

Hi, So Summer Surf Trip is fast approaching as soon as exams are over (yay). It is running from Friday 24th to Monday 27th of June at Newgale Campsite in Pembrokeshire. There will be two minibuses going up on the Friday, one in the morning and one in the evening. Both will be coming back on the Monday evening.

Cost of transport is £15 per person and this is to be paid via the online payment system.

Camping is £15 and this is to be paid to Greg IN CASH before leaving for the trip. Even if you are taking your own transport this money should still be given to Greg beforehand.

There will also be a separate online payment for the t-shirts and a form to fill in with what size t-shirt you want.

For all of this there will be a series of signups going up on the website as follows and sign ups will go up at 5pm this evening (Tuesday 24th)

Surf Trip General sign up -  Sign up if you will be on surf trip regardless of how you are intending on getting there and how long you are staying.

T-Shirt sign up -     Sign up if you want a surf trip T-shirt.

Friday Morning Bus -  â”¬Ã¡â”¬Ã¡      Sign up for a place on the Friday morning bus.

Friday Evening Bus -    Sign up for a place on the Friday evening bus.

Sign ups will close on the 1st June. Payment closes on the 8th June. If there are any outstanding payments you will not get a place on the trip until you are all paid up, including the cost of this trip.

I think that was everything....

Doggy Paddle

Sunday 22nd May sees the return of the Doggy Paddle. This involves many many paddlers meeting up and kayaking/canoeing the 18 miles from Leamington to Stratford. Largely a flatwater paddle, with a few weirs and a couple of compulsory portages. Beer is often close to hand (in buoyancy aid pocket?), just showing the relaxed nature of the day. It's an event held to raise money for the guide dog's association and as such it comes with a reasonable £10 entry fee. Transport costs will be worked out when we know numbers, Beer is often close to hand (in buoyancy aid pocket?), just showing the relaxed nature of the day. It could be a great opportunity to take the duo or the open canoe! Please signup as soon as possible so I can sort out drivers and logistics. Any questions, just SHOUT. Look forward to seeing everyone dressed to impress tonight.

RAGE League

Posted 12y 11mth ago by Some Old Git
Posted by: Yellow
Instead of any RAGE! tournaments this term, we're holding a league over the whole term.

We'll start in week 2 and there will be 2 games per week. Each team will probably play all the other teams twice. Each team should have plenty of subs, so the idea will be that you play when you can, but the team shouldn't have to forfeit a game because people haven't turned up.

So, go to the website and sign up for RAGE league. Deadline: Thursday Week 1

We're going to do something slightly different this time. Rather than Matt and myself choosing the teams and then the losers moaning that their team was weaker, you are going to pick the teams for us. Everyone who signs us will be emailed with a list of people who have signed up. You will then assign everyone with a rank between 1 and 10 and send it back to me. The average rank will be taken for everyone, then the teams will be picked randomly to distribute the best players among each team and ensure that each team has approximately the same rank overall. This is an experiment, so if it fails dramatically, we'll just pick the teams as before.

PGL is also going to organise a fantasy league once the teams have been picked. The basic idea will be that it will cost £1 to enter and then you have an amount of money to spend on players (based on their rankings), which you will be allowed up to 8. Points will be awarded based on your players performance. There will be a prize. More details to follow when signups have closed.

Captains will be chosen by their teams and cards will be used by the refs.

It appears there's been some kind of error/misunderstanding about our polo sessions this week so here's what's going on.

Tuesday - no session

Wednesday - no session

Friday - 10-11am and 7:30-8:30 pm (normal times)

Sorry for those of you that turned up tonight, you'll just have to play extra hard on Friday :)

Pool Sessions and BUCS

Pool Sessions
It's BUCS week this week, whoop! As such, I've organised an extra pool session on Thursday evening. Same time as Wednesday evening, 8:00pm til 9:30pm.
There are 2 pool sessions this week, 8:00pm til 9:00pm on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Both sessions will be BUCS only. Sorry, to do this, but we need this time to practice.
We will be packing the Van at the end of Thursday's session, which means a few of us at least will need to finish early and start karting kit downstairs. If possible, please bring all tents to this sessions to stick in the van. Any personal kit can also be left in the van overnight if you wish, it will be staying at Sports Centre. I expect most people's kit to be going in the van rather than the minibus. We want to fill up the minibus with people!
Captains expect everyone to be at the Thursday night session unless you have a very good reason not to be; revision is not a very good reason, its 1 and a half hours, a week and a half before exams even start.
Leam Training
Given the extra session, who is interested in Leam Training on Thursday? Let me know if you are, and I'll try to organise something. This includes Men and Ladies.
BUCS
Everyone should know that there are 2 buses, one at 7am Friday morning and one at 6:30pm on Friday evening.
The morning bus will not be going via Tesco.
You will need to bring Lunch for Friday. We will go to Tesco in Doncaster on Friday afternoon if we need to. Dinner on Saturday night is provided, otherwise you need to bring Breaskfast, Lunches, Snacks etc... Accomodation is camping, so you need to bring a tent. The Party Tent will be going, but its a bit fragile by the sounds of it... please let me know if you intend to use it.
BUCS Party
There is a party at BUCS on the Saturday night, and its awesome. The theme is Noah's Ark. There (probably) won't be a bar...
Freshers
If you have any questions about BUCS, ask anyone that has been before. We play outside and its normally cold, but too cold. If you want to borrow a cag, let me know and I will talk to Canoe, otherwise I don't intend to take any.
