BUSA results and tomorrow's session

Another good year at the BUSAs, solidifying our place as a uni to be reckoned with:

Final BUSA Positions

Old Boys Gits 9th (last year 4th - perhaps a little disappointing from their point of view)

B Team 5th (last year 6th)

Ladies 7th (last year 7th)

Open 3rd (last year 3rd)

Well played to everyone who took part and made it very easy to organise; packing up at the end was very quick!

Special mentoin to the B Team - for playing without any substitutes and still managing to finish 5th. Golden-goals a-plenty for the ladies, with at least two games being won at the death. Mens A thought they'd do it the hard way - rather than settle things with a golden goal - they took their 1/4 Final to penalties!

BOAT CLEANING TOMORROW

All BUSA people at the sports centre at 6.30 to clean boats before "training" please.

kit fixing - your help please

if anyone has any time free on mon/tues days/evenings this week and is at uni (and is slightly technically minded) your help would be immensely appreciated with finishing off fixing boats. in earlsdon.

blood, sweat and many many days have gone into the work - literally - from G, Stu and myself, but in order to be able to use them at the busas they need to be finished by tuesday absolute latest (so they can cure in time).

if you are able to help please please please say so, or we will be leaving boats behind on friday, meaning more games in plastics.

simple as that.

Doggy Paddle anyone?

header-doggypaddle.jpgDoggy Paddle- 13th May (Sunday end of week 3)
Anyone up for it? The club did it 3 years ago and it sounded like a laugh (and a good break from a pretty intense term). Basically, it's a relaxed paddle for charity with lots of other kayakers that goes around Warwick Castle at one point. People could take whatever boats they wanted and swop with other people whenever cos it's not exactly hardcore whitewater! (anyone up for the duo or the open canoe?). As there won't be many trips next term except for the surf trip (that's KAYAK surf for all you freshers!) and maybe a few nene/ nottingham trips, i can't think of a better way to spend a summer's day.
Few extra details: entry is £7, it starts at 10am on the River Leam, and oh yes... it's 19 miles. But don't let that put you off- a little bit of distance should never stop a good day's paddling!

Sports Fed ball!!!!!!!!!!

The oppertunity to be sitting within the proximity of Paul Merson is approaching so hang on to your seats becasue sports fed ball is approaching!
PAUL WHO? more to the point! However, the Sports Fed ball is an excellent way to finish the year among friends and a night Id definately recomend, there is allways a large contigent  of Kayakers/Polo players and we  try to get as many tables together as possible. It is the day before the legendary surf trip and makes an excellent prelude to the sunny beach of St Davids!
It is the one night in the year that a few of us bother to look vaguely smart, an incentive in itself! Feel free to browse the photos from last year and check out the surf trip while you are there!

Dates:   Sat 23rd of June

You can purchase your tickets online now and they do tend to sell out, although pricey it is a great night and a good way to say goodbye to those joining the real world!

the Mighty Scotland Tour- some final details

In case you had all forgotten next week we are all going to Scotland for a party... we may (if you smile sweetly) also be going paddling some of the days. Here are a few more details about the week:
Easter clock
Times: We will meet outside the Sports Centre AT 9.45AM on Thursday 29th March and come back on the evening of Thursday 5th April/early morning of the 6th (Friday). If you need a place to stay (ie freshers) on the Wednesday night before or the Thursday night after then either let me know or sort it out amongst yourselves. There's a lot of people going who have places on and around campus over the holidays who would be able to help you out.
*EXEC (old and new): PLEASE MEET AT THE SPORTS CENTRE at the EARLIER TIME of 8.45AM so we can get boats and crap like that*
don't get any ideas WoodcockThings to bring: See the list on the website ( http://www.warwickcanoe.co.uk/site/tripkit/) but don't bring a roll mat or cooking stuff. You should all have already told me if you need a wetsuit and cag. Additionally please could everyone  BRING A SLEEPING BAG. We will be VERY tight for space so please pack concisely and please DON'T bring food for the week! We will go food shopping when we're there (we'll probably do communal cooking at the beginning) so just bring food for the journey.
A hint of things to look forward to: haggis, dancing, port, skiing, general merriment,  and cheese (can't think of anything else...).

Over and out,

BUSA kit

Posted by: Frodo

Hello,

As has been well publicised in emails/forum/general mention in passing, the BUSAs are on the last weekend of the holidays (friday-sunday). Teams entered are Open A, Open B, Ladies A, and Old Gits. You should know whether or not you are going; if unsure please contact your team captain.

Just a reminder that you will need to make sure you have a tent sorted (or to have arranged space in someone else's) and have sleeping bag/camp bed etc.

This email is going out now, 5 weeks early, in case you need to pick any gear up from home over the holidays.

A more detailed suggested kit list (for those who've not been before) will go out nearer the time. Any questions in the mean time just ask anyone who's been before - they'll be happy to advise.

Additionally, if anyone needs somewhere to stay for a couple/few nights before we leave on the friday lunchtime (ie campus people who may not have rooms over easter) please get in touch and a roof will be found for you, as well as any belongings you may need to store until you get back into your rooms.

Enjoy the break, see you sometime in the next few weeks.
