Ahoi!
If anyone could come along to the pool tomorrow at like 4.30pm and give me a hand with taping over paddles that'd be much appreaciated. We certainly need some people to help take boats down and set up goals at 5.15pm before sports centre shuts at 5.30pm. I recon you'd even deserve shotguning kit for your first game! Let know... and now off to Ale heheyey

Hoody%20pic.jpg

I'm going to be ordering the Canoe Club hoodies this week. The back will be printed with the design as above. The front will have a small logo embroidered on the left and then whatever you want as your name/nickname embroidered on the right. They will be £24 and you can choose from olive, black, ash, navy or chocolate. They\'re the same make of hoodies as last year which as far as I know everyone thinks are really good quality.

If you want one you need to email me by Thursday evening. I\'m going to put the order in early Friday morning so I won\'t be able to order one for you if you miss this deadline. Basically in your email tell me what size and colour you want and what you want embroidered as your name. Then you need to put a cheque to UWSU for £24 in the envelope on the club noticeboard (upstairs in Union North) also by Thursday.

Email me if you\'ve got any questions.

WEEK 8 The Warwick real Ale festival is upon us, one of the most memorable (or not) weeks of the year, to add to an allready formidable line up of beer mead and cider this year there is the added bonus of Doc Busker if you havent heard him on club trips yet, you will in the futur! The canoe/canoe polo club will be hitting the event in style on THURSDAY, we are attempting to get free entry for all members and will clarify as soon as possible heres the plan:

very simple: just come to the real ale festival on thursday and meet canoe members there!

Also Thursday Week 10, ELECTIONS, those of you who want to join the elite team of Warwick canoe or canoe polo exec and all those who want to come for a cool meal in a pub in leamington and vote are all welcome, the more the merrier and competition is good! I lost to pebble last year and am out for revenge ie: a deep pool where he will never be heard of again! Really fun night and good way to end the term, further details will follow but watch that space!

Cheers

Free entry to the Sports Fed Ball!

Posted 17y 1mth ago by Some Old Git

Elections for Sports Fed Committee are coming, if anyone's even vaguely interested i'd recommend you go for it- it's only voted on by Union Council so an eye- catching manifesto showing you've actually played sports while you've been here should get you a place (and you don't have to do any campaigning)! It's not as boring as the title sounds, basically you get to oversee all sports at Warwick and have a bit of influence in how they're all run.
The committee meets once a week to organise the KPMG leagues, Sports Week, and Sports Fed Ball, etc.
The good bits:
You get free entry to the Varsity Match  (Rugby: Coventry vs Warwick, week 10- and you get to sit in a box and drink wine :-) ) and Score week 10 (featuring hte Vengaboys this year), and free entry to the Sports Fed Ball next year.
How to stand:
To stand all you have to do is go to this page, scroll down to "Committee Elections" and click "Stand in Election." Print out the form and take it to the Democratic Services Officer in Union North before 12pm Wednesday THIS WEEK.

If anyone's got any questions just ask me.

Exciting news!

WeÔÇÖve been invited to Cardiff University polo tournament which will be taking place on 24th and 25th March. This is the weekend of the 1st week into Easter holidays. WeÔÇÖd have to be leaving on Friday. ItÔÇÖs a two day outdoor tournament so excellent pre-BUSA practice!

There is apparently a massive Dirty Disney themed party in their union on Saturday. Cost is 15quid per player, including accommodation with breakfast and entrance to Saturday party (although Frodo will see if some of it can be subsidized, and tell you soon about transport cost).

Please post here if you will be around and would like to come! ItÔÇÖs open to everyone. At the moment IÔÇÖve got a form that lets us enter up to 3 teams (A, B and Ladies), but IÔÇÖll phone up and check tomorrow. They need to receive the form with numbers and payment by end of Feb though, so do post now if you are interested, and there will be more details soon.

Week 8

Saturday 3rd of March - Getting steeper

The rivers youÔÇÖve started to paddle are getting steeper and youÔÇÖre still not quite sure what a boof is? The aim of the day is to develop some core concepts to allow you to develop your paddling style on more demanding rapids.

Well that's what the blurb says anyway, A day on a venue suitable for the group and prevailing weather, working with Myself and Tom Laws, developing the skills needed to run more technically demanding sections of white water. This is offered at no cost to you guys.

Sunday 4th of March - Progressive White Water

Class II ÔÇô easy ÔÇô its time to move on and push yourself on more challenging rivers than before. We wonÔÇÖt just be running down rivers but going back and looking at ourselves, the water and how we interact with it ÔÇô empowering you to place yourself anywhere on the river, giving you the necessary skills to be truly a class III paddler.

Or taken out of management speak, you are happy cruising down grade 2/3, and are looking to improve your technique, to get yourself making every eddy, and truly working the rapids. Again working with me and Tom Laws, and again offered at no cost par petrol and a beer!

The aim is for these to run parallel to the club trips on those days. Places are limited to 3 people on each day, so if you can let me know if you are interested, that would be most excellent!

Sign up online if you are free, those who have already signed up the days have been designed around you to a certain extent again both days starting and finising on campus or my house!

Cheers
