Sun, a BBQ, and some drinks followed by the wonderful sport of kayaking you all enjoy so much sound good?

Well...

All you have to do is be on the feild between old Rootes and the lake on Monday 4th April at 6pm (before the pool session) and bring your own drinks (alcoholic or otherwise).

Post if you're interested so we know what/how much food we need to get.

It will cost a couple of quid each for the food and barbeques but I'll let you know how much when we have more of a idea of numbers.

Cheers,

Mofo, jjjjen, Nige, and The Baron

Polo tonight (28th April)

Tonight's polo session will be geared up to getting new people involved in the game. If you've been canoeing for the whole year and are getting bored of simply paddling around the pool then tonight is for you.

We'll do a small amount of training and run through the rules then match you up with people of a similar standard for games.

Turn up to the pool at 7ish to help set up for 7:15

Right guys, here is the list of people who I believe owe the [polo] club money. We have had emails because we owe so much money for travel and it's because you lot havent paid! So I NEED this money by next tuesday otherwise there will be trouble. I will be in the library most of the week of you can put cheques on the noticeboard. Also I'll be at BUSA.

Ralph = 7.50 + 5.65 + 3.40 = 16.55
Buck = 7.50
Mysterious = 7.50 + 3.40 = 10.9
Sarah = 9.50
Wen = 9.50
Jen = 5.65
Kat = 5.65 + 3.40 = 9.05
Ben = 5.65
G = 5.65
Blackmore = 5.65
Tom White = 5.65
Einstein = 3.40
Dellar = 3.40

If you think you've already paid then check your cheque book as there is no way of me telling who has paid apart from my list.

Thanks, your soon-to-be-ex treasurer

Right, the Polo club have a new shiny combat 65 awaiting us at Brookbank Warwickshire.

If anyone is available to collect this on Thursday that would be great, so it can be used for BUCS :)

Your uni card should be enough to prove your from the club. Any questions, my mobile is 0seven746374413.

Polo Tonight (21st)

Hi all,

With BUCS looming at the weeked tonights polo session will be for BUCS players and only to allow us to scrape off the rust that has built up over Easter.

However, next week we will be back up and running as a full club (hopefully) with glory tucked under our belts and, if we're lucky a BUCS medal to go with it. If you've been toying with the idea of picking up polo this will be the best time to start so you can build up some amazing skills before next years freshers turn up. If a big enough group of you come we can easily get you playing with people of you're own abilities.

Alternative Sports Fed Party!

Posted 15y 7mth ago by Some Old Git

Hello guys and gals!

It is a bit of a tradition to go to the infamous Sports Federation Ball every year as a club and then head off to Surf Trip (fairly hungover) the next day. It is a chance for the members of the club to dress up in their posh dinner jackets/dresses and to have a meal together. It is also, however, a time to spend a ridiculously large amount of money (£50 ish!) for a terrible dinner and a glorified disco, with barely any alcohol included in the price!

Because of this your exec this year have dared to break this tradition and organise our own alternative epic party! Instead of having it the day of Sports Fed we plan to extend the wicked Summer Surf Trip by a day (woop!) and have it either on the Wednesday or Thursday of week ten, when everyone is totally done with exams :)

No plans are totally finalised, but expect a barbecue, marquee, special location, bouncy castle (!) and more booze than most people can stomach, all for roughly half the price of this year's sport fed ball! We also plan on making the dress code to remain posh, so those outfits do get used this year after all.

In summary: don't be too quick to purchase your tickets to a rubbish event, which was previously only made good by the excellent company - but wait a short while for us to sort stuff out and join everyone for an amazing evening at the end of the term to finish off the year!

Looking forward to it already,

Manof (and the rest of the exec)

I sent out the following e-mail but it may not have reached you all.

Firstly, Congrats again to the new exec. Traditionally Polo don't hand over until after BUSAs so we'll keep it that way this year. We normally meet Tuesday evenings before the session in the snack room (on the pool balcony). However, this week Chloe has an exam so we're meeting Wednesday after Leam training. Last one before BUSA so I expect you all to lead by example and make it an awesome turnout. You are all welcome to attend this meeting but it won't be the official handover. We'll do the official handover next Tuesday 28th in the resources room (Union North/ SU HQ) at 6pm to give us plenty of time to chat pre-polo. Nigel is also organising a handover meal with the canoe guys as well but more info to come on that from him. PGL

BUCS 2009 preparations...

Hello all, further to Jon's e-mail I thought we might need a thread to sort out a few things.

Firstly, who needs tent space, and more importantly, who has tent space to give?
[I believe the party tent is pretty knackered, I don't know if it's got another trip in it? What do people reckon? (If you went to NSR you'll know what it's like).]

Who would like to take a club cag to BUSA?

Don't forget if you're getting a BUSA polo shirt you'll need to give me/nignog a cheque for £14.50 made payable to UWSU.

AND DON'T FORGET YOUR UNI CARD!!!

Minibus Assessments

Posted 15y 7mth ago by Some Old Git
Posted by: Barnet
There will be minibus assessments taking place at the beginning of this coming term. See: http://warwicksport.warwick.ac.uk/officer/transport/minibusassessments/

This consists of a compulsary lecture on Thursday 23rd of April and then a driving slot at some point between the 28th April and 2nd May. If you are planning on taking a test in the near future then the lecture can be attended up to 12 months in advance of the practical driving part.

You will need to-
Be 21
Have no serious driving convictions (Points from a court action)
Held a license for 2 years
Have access to both parts of your license (Card & Paperwork)

The club relies on the drivers for many trips and their effort is greatly appreciated by everyone. This year we will be losing lots of drivers and we will need as many as possible to ensure the smooth running of trips.

For further details mail the people on that link or get in contact with me.
