From week 3 onwards there will be an extra polo session in the main campus pool on Fridays 10-11am!
Idea is to vary these sessions for team training, or fresher's training, which will always be announced. Often everyone will be welcome, because we do need to ensure a good turnout.
The first session on Friday 20th October will particularly be aimed at people going to ULU Tournament.
The next session on 27th October will be reserved for Fresher's training, with everyone willing to give a hand most welcome!

Emergency change of fancy dress!!!!

Hi all,

Hope you have all enjoyed the pool sessions so far this term. Here's the details of the more exciting stuff going on in the next couple of weeks and getting on some proper water.

THIS SUNDAY (15th Oct), Leam Boat Centre

This is an opportunity for you to practice and learn some more skills on a river. It is ideal preparation for the freshers' trip, and there will plenty of people on hand to help you out. There's also a BBQ at the place we're going, to provide some well earned post canoe refreshments. We'll provide all the equipment you need and wetsuits etc, all you need to bring is some swimming gear to wear under the wetsuit and warm clothes for when you get off the river. We'll take you there on the bus so you'll need to bring money for this (costs below)

Meet - PIAZZA 1pm Sunday (there will be someone in a blue hawaiian shirt to meet you)

How much? - You'll need about £5 to cover bus fare, and costs of transporting boats, and refreshments etc

FRESHERS TRIP, weekend of week 3 (20th-22nd Oct)

SIMPLY UNMISSABLE. For many of you this will be your first opportunity to have a go on some moving water its a fantastic introduction. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE FRESHER TO GO ON THIS TRIP. Anyone is welcome to sign up. If you already know what you are doing, you may find this easy, but sign up anyway, if nothing else for the social side of it.  Priority will be given to new members but older members can sign up too and will be welcome to come if there are spaces left. We'll be staying in a lovely warm bunkhouse in North Wales, leaving Friday evening and returning Sunday evening, with loads of fun in between. Cost will be £40 to cover bunkhouse and transport costs, and you'll also get a cool t-shirt thrown into the works for you to remember the trip by.

SIGN UP WILL BE GOING UP ON THE WEBSITE AT 12pm WEDNESDAY 11th Oct.

How to sign up: If you haven't done so already you will need to sign up on the website (using your warwick sport password etc.) Click on 'trips' listed under 'canoe' on the left hand side of the page. Then click on 'Freshers trip 2006' and then click on 'Sign up',  fill in your details and click the sign up button at the bottom of the page. Your sign up will be confirmed by the exec.

If you have any problems or questions please email or phone Louise. president@warwickcanoe.co.uk / 07984 974172

Hope to see you at the social on wednesday (7.30pm Rootes bar, NB: its not PJ themed, that's the following week!)

It's time once again for the social season to begin.

We kick start the year by taking on the score pyjama party!!!  For those new to this we meet in the bar in rootes before heading into score later, so if you just want to pop in and say hello or join a full night of carnage (well it will be for some) then everyone is welcome.  Bring along whoever and fancy dress is a must, let's just you dont all sleep naked.

In summary,

-Rootes bar (tucked away probably to avoid bar staff getting annoyed)
-7:30 onwards
-buy your score tickets in advance!

Hope to see you all there,

ULU Canoe Polo Tournament : 21-22 October

Posted 18y 1mth ago by Some Old Git
Posted by: Frodo

Hi all,

ULU are organising a Polo Tournament for the 21st/22nd October (end of week 3).

Games (on a lake, none of this swimming pool lark) all saturday afternoon, BBQ sat night, then games all day sunday. The weekend will run in the format of two separate leagues, both OPEN as not enough ladies teams showed initial interest.

Transport will of course be sorted, and camping like the BUSAs etc etc.

The only slight complication is that teh Freshers Canoe Trip is planned for the same weekend, so a fair few people will be tied up in that unfortunately. So, before we enter (hopefully 2 teams) we need to sort out who will be available (this cannot realistically include freshers as the entries need to be in very soon after freshers fayre.)

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLAY PLEASE SIGN UP ON THE WEBSITE, ON THIS THREAD.

to save confusion, PLEASE ONLY CONFIRM YES/NO IN THIS NEWS ITEM - ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE START A NEW THREAD in the forum - that way its easy to keep track of who can go...

Grand. See you soon,

Frodo

I have put two versions of the Scotland DVD online - both can be found in the Scotland album. The first is the full version (slightly censored), the second is a paddling and dancing-only version (suitable for showing your parents).
