Scotland - Important stuff

Hullo ÔÇô this one if for all those coming to Scotland (yay!) with us at Easter

Firstly thanks to everyone for their deposits (Emily  I hear youre sorting that one with Louise) okay This is a bit of a general admin email, to save my poor phone bill from ringing you all, but pls stick with it. ANYTHING I HAVE HERE WRONG IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TELL ME!!

Firstly to clarify the rumours we are staying at Linnhe Lochside Holidays (http://www.linnhe-lochside-holidays.co.uk/welcome.htm), which is a big Static caravan site. This I think/hope is going to awesome  its saved a fair bit on a bunk house but has onsite such joys as a drying room, launderette, bakery, heated baths and showers, a private beach and get this an adventure playground! Seriously tho its 5miles out of fort William and well be split between 4 caravans. Sorted.

Transport wise we will be travelling in a bus and a van, and Katie will also have her car up there for the BCU course ppl.

Okay hereÔÇÖs the complicated bit: Here is the list of people I think are going plus any strange deviations I know you are doing. If your name is blank I think you are coming up and back with the van and bus and staying with us 100% of the time. If NOT CAN YOU MAKE SURE I KNOW that youÔÇÖre going via aunt mable, etcetc.

Ralph (are you doing something odd?? I need to know asap)

Me (donÔÇÖt ask)

Emily ÔÇô driving herself, so no club transport.

Cost ÔÇô that fun subject ÔÇô Me and Lousie have spent HOURS getting this as cheap as we can. Accm is ┬ú65 for the week (Tom and Kate I will sort your % individually) Transport is ┬ú75 both ways or ┬ú40 one way. I know it sounds a lot but it is a fecking long way and there is a lot to take into account for a whole week.

So you all owe your transport contribution ÔÇô before the end of term.

Exec Elections

Hey Boys ÔÇÿnÔÇÖ girls,

The time has come again: 2006 CANOE AND CANOE POLO ELECTIONS

This year weÔÇÖll be holding Elections on Wed wk 10 (8th March), your dedicated social secs will send exact timing and set ups around soon, but I can tell you itÔÇÖll be an early start in the bar, followed by our elections dinner in the Farmhouse in Canley, after which the actual speeches and voting will take place. Then itÔÇÖll be onto score! (tickets in advance) to seal the voting (and forget who got in!)

As ever any member can stand, and itÔÇÖll be great to get some new faces involved. DonÔÇÖt feel scared to put yourself forwards! The positions and details are on the web site but if youÔÇÖre feeling any inkling towards standing have a chat to the current bod.

Our elections are a pretty casual affair, your speech needs to consist of a poem or song (pts for comedy/originality) and a joke (the dodgier the better!). Nominations and seconding will take place in the bar/farmhouse at the beginning of the evening.

Positions are

CANOE: President, Treasurer, Secretary, Kit Sec, Coaching Sec, Tour Sec (NEW this yr!!)

POLO: President, Treasurer, Secretary, Kit Sec, Coaching Sec

JOINT: Web Monkey, Social Secs (x2)

All info online at http://www.warwickcanoe.co.uk/site/execpositions/

Handovers will take place at the beginning of term 3 (After the BUSAÔÇÖs for polo), and will roll throughout the term.

Our elections are always an awesome night, and it would be great to see you there

Keep an eye on the emails for final details and in the mean time get writing those poems!!

Ps Current Exec dig out those Hawaiian Shirts, I feel we should go out as we came in!

Hi all,

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping out with the tournament today - timekeeping, refereeing, cheering on our teams, clearing away at the end and just general helpfulness.  All went really smoothly and (just about) on time.

An email in two parts

hey guys

Okay two things, we'll get the not-so-fun one out of the way first: Be warned the exec are going to be cracking down on swimmers in the pool on Monday Training Sessions. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SWIM OR JUMP IN TO THE POOL WHEN THERE ARE KAYAKS IN THE POOL. The only exception is if you are in the shallow end teaching rolling. I am not trying to be anal but there is a lot of playboating going on now and someone is going to get hurt. If mister roberts cartwheels into your head you are going to know about it for weeks to come. Please don't make us ask you twice.

Okay worry over, the OUTDOOR SHOW in the NEC is on 17th-19th March which amongst other things includes this yrs BCU International Canoe exhibition 'Canoe 06', with top speakers, demonstrations, the Uk indoor free style Championships etc. it's an awesome day out, and only 20mins/£4 away on the train. I've been before and always had a gd day and picked up cheap kit in the bargin.

All info on www.theoutdoorsshow.co.uk. The club isn't going to specifically organise a trip - but use the forum and group yourselves up on a convenient day if you fancy it.

Surf trip sign up still there for a couple more days, be good to see lots of you there

See you on Monday

Polo Rules Course

Following on from my poor show of last term, I actually am going to do a RULES COURSE in the next few weeks!

The couse will be theory based, with the chance to practice in training sessions.  It will be mainly aimed at people wanting to learn to referee, but, it will also be useful to anyone who feels a little rusty on their rules.

I must stress that this will not be for an official qualification, as I am not qualified to do that...... however, you might get a certificate!!

The provisional date will be the afternoon (2 or 3 o'clock) of Wednesday 22nd February (Week 8).  It will last for two hours.  I will let you know the exact time when I have confirmed the room booking, and also tell you more about the format nearer the time.  Please e-mail me to confirm that you would like to attend. (coach@polo.warwickcanoe.co.uk)

I would really love to get as many people there as possible, even if you aren't wanting to referee!

Canoe Clothing!

Right, i finally have your choices for this year's CANOE CLUB CLOTHING!
Two choices, as mentioned before:

1.) Rugby shirts. Really, really good quality (330gsm if that means anything to anyone). Black with white collar. Will have the Who Dares Swims logo printed on the back (like the Fat Face jumpers have) and your name/ nickname and "Warwick Canoe" embroidered on the front. Size: XS-XXL
Price: £20.37

2.) Hoodies- again, really good quality, 300-310gsm, much better than the standard fruit of the loom (which is 260gsm) deal! You have a choice of either chocolate (see the snow hoodies), olive or black. See the attached pictures for what the designs'll look like (all will be the same in the final design except perhaps for the front left breast which i'm going to ask him to make more canoe- related)- the canoer is someone from the club which is pretty cool (see if you can guess who- it's from last year's surf trip). Will be printed on the back, and embroidered on the front.  Again, will have your name/ nickname embroidered on the front as well. The design this year is very different to previous years, but we wanted to try something new and which didn't just have the university crest on it!
Price: £22

I'll have signup sheets for them at polo tonight and canoeing and polo next week, and there'll be one on the board all week. Need your cheques straight away- neither company will print without payment. Deadline is next TUESDAY.

Delivery: i know the jackets have been annoying, but neither the rugby shirts or hoodies are with that company and each promise to have them done by the end of term AT LEAST if we get the order off asap.

Once again, deadline is NEXT TUESDAY!!

Happy ordering, see you all tonight or at Pub Golf on Thursday,
Frank

CENTENARY PARTY!

┬á┬á The image ÔÇ£http://www.rotaryinlondon.org/oldwebsite/centenary_conference_10.jpgÔÇØ cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
(complete with 100 candles, balloons, a crown for the 100th member, etc. etc.)

So if you havenÔÇÖt joined, JOIN!! and get your friends to join! (if you havenÔÇÖt got any friends, bribe people)

(As an added incentive.. youÔÇÖre not allowed, insurance-wise, to come on any canoe trips without joining to if you want to go on the surf trip, THE trip of the year which is open to all, then youÔÇÖre going to have to join eventually anyway.. yes even you polo people)

Hope the hangovers arenÔÇÖt too painful from last night everyone who went, see you all on Monday in the pool.
